5. He shall serve and levy all executions issued by a justice of
the peace in the same manner as the sheriff is authorized to do, but
no constable shall summon appraisers in levying a writ of fieri facias
or attachment. No constable shall summon appraisers in distress for
money rent.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1956.

CHAPTER 92

(Senate Bill 60)

AN ACT to repeal Section 24 of Article 11 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1955 Supplement), title "Banks and Trust Com-
panies", sub-title "Bank Commissioner", and to enact a new Sec-
tion 24 in lieu thereof, to stand in the place of the section so
repealed, amending the laws as to the amounts to be paid by
banking institutions, including branch offices, for examinations
and relating generally to the conduct of such examinations.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 24 of Article 11 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1955 Supplement), title "Banks and Trust Companies", sub-title
"Bank Commissioner", be and it is hereby repealed, and that a new
Section 24 be and it is hereby enacted in lieu thereof, to stand in the
place of the section so repealed, and to read as follows:

24. The examination of banking institutions by the Bank Com-
missioner shall be paid for by such institutions at the following rate
for each examination: A charge of fifty dollars ($50.00) for each
examination shall be made in all cases, to which shall be added, after
first deducting the sum of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) from
the total assets of the institution so examined, four cents (4c) per
thousand of such remaining total assets the institution examined
may have. Where a per diem fee is charged for a branch office, as
herein provided, the assets of such branch office shall be excluded
from the total assets of the institution in computing the charges for
each examination. When it becomes necessary for the Bank Com-
missioner to extend his examination beyond the principal office or
building, he shall be paid in addition therefor in each case a per
diem fee
o/ not more than twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for each of
the examining personnel so engaged. The Bank Commissioner shall
collect the amounts named from the institution examined and pay
the same to the State Treasurer, and he shall draw, on proper orders,
from the State Treasury, the amount necessary for the salaries and
other expenses of his office.
