214                              Laws of Maryland                        [Ch. 84

title "Motor Vehicles", sub-title "Civil Liability", providing for
service of process upon non-residents using the roads and highways
of Maryland for legal process resulting from an accident or collision
in which a non-resident may be involved and which occurred any-?
where within the boundaries of the State of Maryland.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 113 (a) of Article 66 1/2 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1951 Edition), title "Motor Vehicles", sub-title "Civil Liability",
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

(a). The acceptance by a non-resident individual, firm, or corpora-
tion of the rights and privileges of using the roads and highways of
Maryland, as evidenced by his, their, or its operation of a motor
vehicle on any of the public highways within the limits of this State,
shall be deemed equivalent to an appointment by such non-resident
individual, firm or corporation of the Secretary of State, or his succes-
sor in office, to be his, their or its true and lawful attorney upon whom
may be served all lawful processes in any action or proceeding insti-
tuted, filed or pending against him, them or it, growing out of any
accident or collision in which said non-resident may be involved, while
operating or causing to be operated, a motor vehicle on such public
highway or elsewhere within the boundaries of the State of Mary-
land,
INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO PROPERTY OWNED
BY INDIVIDUALS, FIRMS, CORPORATIONS OR THE FED-
ERAL GOVERNMENT; and said acceptance of the rights and priv-
ileges of using said highways or the operation of said motor vehicle
by said non-resident individual, firm or corporation

AS HEREINBEFORE PROVIDED shall
be a signification of his, their or its agreement that such process be of
the same legal force and validity (except as hereinafter provided) as
if served on him, them or it personally.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1956.

section 32 (b), Sub-section 33 (a) (4), Sub-section 34 (a) (6), and
to repeal Sub-section 39 (b) of Article 73B of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1955 Supplement), title "Pensions", sub-title "Social
Security Benefits", and to repeal Section 2 of Chapter 636 of the
