education corporations, orders denominations and sects, and to cer-
tain charitable institutions hereinafter named and hereinafter set
forth.

1. To a deed from Harlon C. Smoot and Kathryn F. Smoot, his
wife, to Charles H. Van Doren and Victor A. Nelson, Trustees of
The Church of God in Christ Jesus, dated September 20th, 1946,
and recorded among the Land Records of Dorchester County, Mary-
land, in Liber R. S. M. No. 59, Folio 683.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1956.

Approved March 2, 1956.

CHAPTER 53

(Senate Bill 88)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 1 of
Article 96i/2 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1955 Supple-
ment), title "Veterans", correcting an inadvertent error which was
made in the wording of this section as last amended in Chapter
288 of the Acts of 1955.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 1 of Article 96i/2 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1955 Supplement), title "Veterans", be and is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

1. Definition of "Second World War Veteran."

The term "Second World War Veteran", as and when used in this
Article, unless a contrary intention shall be manifest by the con-
text, shall mean, be deemed to mean, and shall apply to any person
who, at the time he seeks to invoke any of the provisions of this
Article or at the time any such provisions become applicable to him,
is a resident of Maryland, and who after May 1, 1940, and prior to
December 31, 1946, or who after June 1, 1950, and prior to June
1, 1957:

(a)   Has been or shall be inducted into any of the land or naval
forces of the United States, pursuant to the act of Congress, known
as the Selective Training Service Act of 1940, as amended, or any
subsequent act or amendments of a similar nature, or,

(b)   Who, as a member of any reserve component of the land or
naval forces of the United States, has now been or may hereafter be
on active duty or service, or,
