(d) No person shall be permitted to take an examination for a
certificate to teach beauty culture unless such person shall be at
least 18 years of age and has had at least four years' experience as
an operator in a beauty shop, two years of which must have been
as a manager, or, in lieu of said two years' experience as manager,
2,000 hours in a duly registered school of beauty culture, inclusive
of the studies necessary to become an operator, and 12 months prac-
tical experience in a shop or as a junior teacher in a school. An
examination must be taken at the completion of the 2,000 hours
school training, at which time a junior teacher's examination shall
be given, and another examination must be taken at the end of the
one year of practice, at which time a senior teacher license shall be
issued to those qualifying. An examination fee shall be required
upon taking each such examination.
504. (Examinations.) If the Board finds that the applicant has
submitted the credentials required by this sub-title for admission to
examination, and has paid the registration and examination fees
required by this sub-title, the Board shall admit such applicant to
examination, and shall issue certificates of registration to practice
as operator, manager, demonstrator or teacher, as the case may be,
to those successfully passing the required examinations. The said
Board shall meet in the City of Baltimore on the second Tuesday of
January and July of each year for the purpose of holding examina-
tions, or oftener and elsewhere if deemed necessary. Two members
of the Board shall constitute a quorum for the purpose of holding
examinations.
510. (Fees.) All examination fees shall be Five Dollars ($5.00),
and [T] the registration fees for the issuance of licenses, with or
without examination, shall be as follows:
(a) Ten Dollars ($10.00) for beauty shop owners, managers and
teachers.
(b) Two Dollars ($2.00) for operators, manicurists and demon-
strators.
(c) One Dollar ($1.00) for students or apprentices.
(d) Ten Dollars ($10.00) for electrologists and Twenty-five Dol-
lars ($25.00) as examination fee for electrologists, the examination
to be given by a physician to be appointed by the Board.
(e) Fifty Dollars ($50.00) for schools of beauty culture. Public
and parochial schools, however, are hereby declared to be exempted
from the payment of any license fees, but are subject to the other
provisions of this sub-title. Annual renewal fees shall be Ten Dollars
($10.00) for shop owners, managers, electrologists and school in-
structors; Two Dollars ($2.00) for operators, manicurists and dem-
onstrators; and Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) for schools of beauty
culture. The above fees for registration, examination and certificate
shall be paid in advance to the Secretary of the Board.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1956.
