shooting of carp by bow and arrow in non-tidal waters of this State.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 210 (a) of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1951 Edition), title "Natural Resources", sub-title "Birds,
Game and Inland Water Fish", sub-heading "Regulations for Taking
of Game and Fresh Water Game Fish in Non-Tidal Waters", be and
it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
210. (Gigs and Bait Fish Nets.) (a) It shall be unlawful for
any person to use or attempt to use a gig or gig iron or a light or nets
or seines, fish pots, or other fishing rigs other than permitted in this
Article, provided, however, it shall be lawful to take or shoot carp
with bow and arrow, UNDER THE SUPERVISION, REGULA-
TION AND CONTROL OF THE GAME AND INLAND FISH
COMMISSION. It shall be deemed prima facie evidence that same
was in possession for the purpose of violating this section.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 3 (5) of
Article 73B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1954 Supple-
ment), title "Pensions", extending until six months after July 1,
1955, the right of certain elected or appointed officials to apply for
membership in the State Employees' Retirement System.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 3 (5) of Article 73B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1954 Supplement), title "Pensions", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows :
3. Membership
(5) Optional membership of certain officials.—Notwithstanding
anything to the contrary in this article, membership in the retirement
system shall be optional with any class of elected officials, or with
any class of officials appointed for fixed terms. Such elected or
appointed officials now in office may become members of the em-
ployees' retirement system by making application for such member-
ship within six months after July 1, [1953] 1955. All officials elected
or appointed on or after July 1, [1953] 1955, may become members
of the system upon making application therefor within six months
