AN ACT to add a new sub-section to Section 109 of Article 77 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Public Educa-
tion", sub-title "Teachers' Retirement System", said new sub-
section to be known as sub-section (9) and to follow immediately
after sub-section (8) thereof, providing for privileges for certain
teachers to undertake public employment; to repeal and re-enact,
with amendments, sub-section (1) (d) of Section 112 of the said
sub-title, relating to increase in limit on annuity that may be pur-
chased by additional contributions

and generally amending the
provisions and laws relating to the Teachers' Retirement System
of the State of Maryland.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new sub-section be and it is hereby added to Section 109 of
Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title
"Public Education", sub-title "Teachers' Retirement System", said
new sub-section to be known as sub-section (9), to follow immediately
after sub-section (8) thereof, and to read as follows:

(9) Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary,
a retired member who is receiving a service retirement allowance
may accept part-time employment in which all or part of the compen-
sation therefor comes from State funds, provided he immediately
notifies the Board of Trustees of his intention to accept such employ-
ment and specifies the compensation to be received therefor and
further provided the retirement allowance receivable by him, com-
puted without optional modification, plus the annual rate of remu-
neration for the position, shall not exceed in amount the average final
compensation upon which such retirement allowance was based. The
provisions of this section shall be effective only until July 31, 1960,
and after that date, shall expire and no longer be effective.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That sub-section (1) (d) of
Section 112 of said sub-title, be and the same is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
