SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 10 of Article 36 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition), title "Fees of Officers", sub-title "Attorneys", be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
10. Attorneys at law shall be entitled to demand and receive the
following fees, to wit:
for bringing, prosecuting or defending any suit or action at law
in any of the courts of this State of original jurisdiction...............$5.00
for prosecuting or defending any cause, plaint or action, includ-
ing all proceedings to collect money due on mortgage, in any of the
courts of equity of this State............................_______..............................$10.00
for prosecuting or defending any cause in any of the orphans'
courts in this State__________________________..........................$10.00
for prosecuting or defending any cause in the court of
appeals .............................................................................................................................................$10.00
for prosecuting or defending in any criminal cases in any of the
courts of this State having criminal jurisdiction, when the punish-
ment for the offense charged is death or confinement in the Peni-
tentiary _____________________.___________________..___$10.00

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.

AN ACT authorizing and directing the Maryland Racing Commis-
sion to award one additional day of racing to Ocean Downs Rac-
ing Association, Inc., during the year 1955, said additional day
to be in lieu of one day on which inclement weather prevented
racing during the year 1954.
