AN ACT to add Section 488A to the Code of Public Local Laws of
Anne Arundel County (1947 Edition), being Article 2 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Anne Arundel County",
sub-title "Sanitary Districts", said new section to follow imme-
diately after Section 488 thereof, pertaining to the Anne Arundel
County Sanitary Commission, to authorize the Commission to make
long-range studies and plans, to employ help and to raise funds
to defray cost of such studies and plans.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 488A be and it is hereby added to the Code of Public
Local Laws of Anne Arundel County (1947 Edition), being Article
2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Anne Arundel
County", sub-title "Sanitary Districts", said new section to follow
immediately after Section 488 thereof, and to read as follows:

488A. (a) The Anne Arundel County Sanitary Commission is
authorized to initiate and conduct investigations, studies, surveys and
engineering reports of long-range planning in all or any part of
Anne Arundel County as, in its discretion, may be necessary for the
future installation of water and sewerage utilities needed for future
development, and for the health, welfare and benefit of the residents
of Anne Arundel County.

(b). The Commission is hereby empotvered to employ such tech-
nical, legal, clerical and other help as may be necessary to carry out
such planning, and is further authorized to employ such outside
engineering assistance as it may select, other than its own engineering
forces, as it may deem necessary.

(c). The cost of the long-range planning herein provided, shall be
paid by the Commission from funds provided to it from private
developers, Federal, State, Metropolitan and County agencies and
from such other sources as funds may be contributed to the Commis-
sion for the purpose of such planning, subject to the approval of the
County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County, and said County
Commissioners are authorized to appropriate such sum or sums of
money as they may deem necessary and reasonable to carry out such
planning, and the Sanitary Commission is hereby authorized to enter
into contracts and agreements with the persons, firms or agencies
providing such funds.
