STRUCTING AND MAINTAINING THE COUNTY ROADS
WITHIN THAT COUNTY. SUCH TRANSFER SHALL BECOME
EFFECTIVE ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE FIRST STATE FIS-
CAL YEAR FOLLOWING THE REQUEST BY THE COUNTY,
AND THEREAFTER THE STATE ROADS COMMISSION SHALL
HAVE NO DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES OR AUTHORITY
WITH RESPECT TO THE CONSTRUCTION, RECONSTRUC-
TION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE COUNTY ROADS OF THE
PARTICULAR COUNTY AFFECTED OTHER THAN AS PRE-
SCRIBED BY SECTION 24 OF THIS ARTICLE WITH RESPECT
TO COUNTY ROADS IN GENERAL. NOTWITHSTANDING THE
PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION, AS TO CHARLES COUNTY,
THE STATE ROADS COMMISSION SHALL UNDERTAKE,
CARRY OUT AND PERFORM THE CONSTRUCTION, RECON-
STRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE COUNTY ROAD
SYSTEM IN SAID COUNTY AS PROVIDED IN SECTION 171
OF THIS SUB-TITLE.

SEC. 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT ANY AND
ALL PUBLIC GENERAL OR PUBLIC LOCAL LAWS, OR ANY
PART OR PARTS THEREOF, INCONSISTENT WITH THE PRO-
VISIONS OF THIS ACT, BE AND THEY ARE HEREBY RE-
PEALED TO THE EXTENT OF ANY SUCH INCONSISTENCY.

SEC. 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THIS ACT
SHALL TAKE EFFECT JUNE 1, 1955.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 78 and
93 of Article 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Charles County," sub-titles "County Commission-
ers" and "County Treasurer," respectively, said Section 93 having
been amended by Chapters 43 and 473 of the Acts of 1935, relating
to the publication of certain legal notices in newspapers by the
County Commissioners of Charles County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 78 and 93 of Article 9 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Charles County," sub-titles
"County Commissioners," and "County Treasurer," respectively, said
Section 93 having been amended by Chapters 43 and 473 of the Acts
of 1935, be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

78. The County Commissioners of Charles County shall, in each
and every year, as soon as practicable after the annual levy, contract
