tions.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.

CHAPTER 513
(House Bill 643)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 287 and
288 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edi-
tion), title "Public Education", sub-title "Vocational Rehabilita-
tion", to authorize and empower the State Board of Education to
cooperate with the Department of Health, Education and Welfare
of the United States, or any agency or instrumentality thereof, and
to enter into any contracts with such Department, agency or instru-
mentality, necessary and desirable to carry out the disability
determination provisions of the Federal Social Security Act; and
authorizing references to and receipt in evidence of reports, records
and memoranda of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation-of the
State Board of Education in civil proceedings before commissions,
administrative bodies and courts, in accordance with rules and
regulations of the State Board of Education.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland.
That Sections 287 and 288 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Public Education", sub-title "Voca-
tional Rehabilitation", be and the same are repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

287. The State of Maryland does hereby (1) accept the pro-
visions and benefits of the Act of Congress entitled "An Act to
provide for the promotion of vocational rehabilitation of persons
disabled in industry or otherwise and their return to civil employ-
ment", approved June 2, 1920, as amended June 5, 1924, and July 6,
1943; (2) designate the State Treasurer as custodian of all moneys
received by the State from appropriations made by the Congress of
the United States for vocational rehabilitation of persons disabled
in industry or otherwise, and authorize the State Treasurer to make
disbursements therefrom upon the order of the State Board of Edu-
cation; (3) empower and direct the State Board of Education to co-
operate with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, in carrying out
the provisions of the Federal Civilian Vocational Rehabilitation Act;
(4) authorize and empower the State Board of Education to co-
operate with the Department of Health, Education and Welfare of
the United States, or any agency or instrumentality thereof, and to
