County (1953 Edition), being Article 17 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's County", sub-title
"Fire Companies", and to add a new Sub-section to Section 656 of
said Code, to be known as Sub-section (n) and to follow imme-
diately after Sub-section (m) thereof, relating to the fire tax and
division of proceeds thereof, in the Eleventh Election District
(Brandywine) in Prince George's County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sub-section (a) of Section 655 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Prince George's County (1953 Edition), being Article 17 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's Coun-
ty", sub-title "Fire Companies", be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, and that a new sub-section be and it is
hereby added to Section 656 of said Code, to be known as Sub-section
(n) thereof, to follow immediately after Sub-section (m) thereof,
and to read as follows:
655.
(a). The provisions of this section shall apply to and be effective
in the following election districts of Prince George's County: 6th,
12th, 13th, 18th, 20th, 2nd, 9th, 21st. The incorporated Town of
Edmonston in the 1st precinct of the 16th Election District, 1st, 3rd,
the 1st precinct of the 14th and 5th, the Eleventh Election District
(Brandywine).

(n). In the 11th Election District (Brandywine), the proceeds of
said tax shall be paid by the County Commissioners every six months
to the Brandywine-Aquasco Volunteer Fire Department, Inc.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That before any tax shall be
levied under the provisions of this Act, the question of such levy shall
first be submitted to the legally qualified voters who will be subject
to and liable for the payment of the tax herein provided at a special
election to be held in October, 1955, on a date to be set in the dis-
cretion of the County Commissioners. THE COSTS OF THE SAID
ELECTION TO BE BORNE BY THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY. There shall be printed on the
ballots to be used at said election the title of this Act and underneath
said title, on separate lines, a square or box to the right of and
opposite the words "for Fire Tax", and a corresponding square or
box to the right of and opposite the words "Against Fire Tax", so
that the voters shall be able to designate by a cross-mark in the
proper square or box his or her decision for or against said fire tax.
If a majority of the votes cast in any of said voting precmcts or part
thereof shall be "for Fire Tax", then said tax shall be levied and paid
over in accordance with the provisions of the Act, but if a majority of
the votes cast shall be "Against Fire Tax", then this Act shall be of
no effect and shall be null and void.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.
