(House Bill 749)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 90 of
Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Wicomico County", sub-title "Fire Companies", as
said section was amended by Chapter 278 of the Acts of 1945,
relating to the sum to be paid annually to the several Volunteer
Fire Companies in Wicomico County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 90 of Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico County", sub-title "Fire
Companies", as said section was amended by Chapter 278 of the Acts
of 1945, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

90. The County Commissioners of Wicomico County are hereby
authorized to appropriate and levy annually the sum of [Eleven
Thousand Dollars ($11,000.00)] Twenty-two Thousand Dollars
($22,000.00), to be paid to the several Volunteer Fire Companies in
said County, in such amount or amounts as the said County Commis-
sioners, in their discretion, shall determine, and to be used for the
general maintenance of said Volunteer Fire Companies in said
County, including the purchase and repairing of fire apparatus and
all other equipment of every kind and character; provided, however,
that no payments shall be made to any company or department which
has any resolutions or regulations limiting the territory within which
it will respond to calls. Each Volunteer Fire Company receiving any
of the above funds shall submit an annual report to said County Com-
missioners, giving a detailed statement of the expenditures of said
fund or funds, and no payment shall be made to any Volunteer Fire
Company until it shall have submitted each report showing the ex-
penditures of said fund for the preceding year.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.
