SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sub-section (a) of Section 655 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Prince George's County (1953 Edition), being Article 17 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's
County", sub-title "Fire Companies", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, and that a new sub-section be and
it is hereby added to Section 656 of said Code, to be known as Sub-
section (n), to follow immediately after Sub-section (m) thereof, and
to read as follows:

655.

(a). The provisions of this section shall apply to and be effective
in the following election districts of Prince George's County: 6th,
12th, 13th, 18th, 20th, 2nd, 9th, 21st, Seventh Election District (Queen
Anne).
The incorporated Town of Edmonston, in the 1st precinct
of the 16th Election District, 1st, 3rd, the 1st precinct of the 14th
and 5th.

656.

(n). In the Seventh Election District (Queen Anne), the proceeds
of said tax shall be divided and paid by the County Commissioners
every six months in equal shares to the respective Treasurers of (1)
Glendale Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., (2) Bowie Volunteer Fire
Department, Inc., and (3) Marlboro Volunteer Fire Department, Inc.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That .before any tax shall be
levied under the provisions of this Act, the question of such levy
shall first be submitted to the legally qualified voters of the Seventh
Election District (Queen Anne) of Prince George's County on the
TUESDAY AFTER THE first Monday in November, 1956. There
shall be printed on the ballot or the ballot label to be used at said
election the title of this Act and underneath said title, on separate
lines, a square or box to the right of and opposite the words "for
Fire Tax", and a corresponding square or box to the right of and
opposite the words "Against Fire Tax", so that the voters shall be
able to designate his or her decision for or against said fire tax. If a
majority of the votes case in the said election district shall be "for
Fire Tax", then said tax shall be levied and paid over in accordance
with the provisions of this Act, but if a majority of the votes cast
shall be "Against Fire Tax", then this Act shall be of no effect and
shall be null and void in that particular election district.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.
