to the qualified voters of Caroline County, the question whether the
said notes, bonds, or other evidence of indebtedness shall be issued,
and at such special election, the ballot used and cast upon the question
shall have printed thereon the words "for the School Bond Issue"
and "Against the School Bond Issue", and if the majority of the votes
cast upon said question shall be "for the School Bond Issue", then
the County Commissioners for Caroline County shall proceed to exer-
cise the power vested in them by this Act, and shall issue the notes,
bonds or other evidence of indebtedness as herein provided; but if
the majority of the votes cast shall be "Against the School Bond
Issue", then this Act shall be null and void.
SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby de-
clared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public health and safety and having been passed
by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of all the members
elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly of Mary-
land, the same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 322
(Senate Bill 510)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sub-sections (e)
and (i) of Section 47 of Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1951 Edition), title "County Commissioners", sub-title
"County Treasurers", relating to the salary of the County Treas-
urer of Caroline County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sub-sections (e) and (i) of Section 47 of Article 25 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "County Com-
missioners", sub-title "County Treasurers", be and they are hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
47.
(e). The County Treasurers of [Caroline,] Kent and Worcester
Counties shall each receive an annual salary of $2400.00.
(i). The County Treasurers of Caroline, Queen Anne's, Talbot
and Wicomico Counties shall each receive an annual salary of
$3,000.00.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.
