Annotated Code of Maryland (1954 Supplement), title "Evidence",
sub-title "Competency of Witnesses", said new section to follow
immediately after Section 5(c) thereof and to read as follows:

(5d). Nothing in Sub-section (a) of this section shall prohibit
the use of such evidence in Wicomico County
PRINCE GEORGE'S,
HOWARD, WICOMICO AND WORCESTER COUNTIES in the
prosecution of any person for a violation of the lottery laws as con-
tained in Sections 423 to 438, inclusive, of Article 27 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition) as amended or supplemented
from time to time, sub-title "Lotteries"

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.

CHAPTER 276

(Senate Bill 278)

AN ACT to add a new section of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1951 Edition and 1954 Supplement), title "Crimes and
Punishments", said new section to be known as Section 547-A
under a new sub-title "Political Posters and Placards", and to
follow immediately after Section 547 of said Code, prohibiting the
placing of political posters and placards upon private and public
property.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,

That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article 27 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition and 1954 Supplement),
title "Crimes and Punishments", said new section to be known as
Section 547-A under a new sub-title "Political Posters and Placards",
and to follow immediately after Section 547 of said Code, and to read
as follows:

547-A. It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to place
or caused to be placed upon any property of the State, county, city
or town, or upon any property in which said person or persons have
no right, title, interest, or estate, any political poster, placard, pic-
ture, sign, transparency, or advertisement. Any person or persons
so doing shall, upon conviction thereof, before a Justice of the Peace,
be fined not more than $50 nor less than $10 and costs. Provided,
however, that the requirements of this section shall apply to
CAR-
ROLL, HARFORD, WORCESTER, HOWARD, ANNE ARUNDEL,
WASHINGTON, PRINCE GEORGE'S AND Baltimore County
COUNTIES only.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.
