I am returning herewith House Bill No. 47, which provides for State
Health Department regulation of crab meat processing. I have vetoed
this bill as unnecessary, since it exactly duplicates Senate Bill No.
58, passed as an emergency measure and signed by me on January
31st, 1955.

House Bill No. 64—Regulation of Soft Shell Clam Industry
AN ACT to add a new sub-section to Section 663 of Article 66C of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 EDITION AND 1954
Supplement), title "Natural Resources", sub-title "Oysters and
Clams", said new sub-section to be known as Sub-section 4)- (F)
and to follow immediately after Sub-section -(4)- (E) thereof, pro-
viding that no person, firm or corporation shall remove any soft
shell clams (mya arenaria) FOR PROFIT OR FOR ANY COM-
MERCIAL PURPOSE, from any county waters of this State who
is not a resident of the county in which said clams are f oundr AND
PROHIBITING CERTAIN DREDGING IN THE WATERS OF
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY.
