VETO MESSAGES
for the
Bills Vetoed by the Governor
During and After the 1955
Session of the General Assembly
of Maryland
Note
There were 61 bills vetoed by the Governor during and
after the 1955 Session of the General Assembly. One bill
was vetoed during the session; it was House Bill 47, which
was vetoed on February 25, and the veto was sustained by
the House on the same day. Announcement of the veto of
the other 60 bills was made on April 28. Under Section 17
of Article 2 of the Constitution of Maryland, each of these
60 bills must be referred to the House in which it originated
immediately after that House shall have organized at the
next Regular or Special Session of the General Assembly and
may then be reconsidered in the same manner as bills vetoed
during the session. Of these 60 bills, 20 originated in the
Senate of Maryland and 40 originated in the House of
Delegates.
