not more than two years, or both such fine and imprisonment, in the
discretion of the Court.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.

(House Bill 400)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 319 of
Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, (1951 Edition),
title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-title "Gaming", to eliminate
Baltimore County from the provisions of said Section legalizing
certain operations of bingo and to eliminate therefrom provisions
with respect to the Maryland State fair and Agricultural Society
of Baltimore County and the White Hall farmers Club and Im-
provement Association.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 319 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland,
(1951 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-title "Gaming",
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:
319. Nothing in this sub-title shall be construed to make it unlaw-
ful for any bona fide fraternal, religious, patriotic, educational or
charitable organizations or corporations, or volunteer fire companies,
to conduct or operate a game of Bingo for the benefit of charity in
[Baltimore or] Howard [Counties] County, or in furtherance of
the purpose of such organization, corporation or volunteer fire
department.
It shall be unlawful, however, for any individual, co-partnership,
corporation or group or organization, not legal residents of [Balti-
more County or] Howard County to operate any game of Bingo in
[their respective counties] said County for the benefit of any such
local organization, corporation or volunteer fire department. [, ex-
cept that the Maryland State fair and Agricultural Society of Balti-
more County and the White Hall farmers Club and Improvement
Association may sell or lease the right or concession to any person,
co-partnership, firm, group, corporation or organization, regardless
of the residence of such purchaser or lessee, to conduct or operate
the game of Bingo at the yearly fairs held by them at Timonium and
White Hall in Baltimore County.]
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955.
