1953 and adopted by the qualified voters of the State at the general
election held in November, 1954.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1955, except that the additional salaries provided herein for
every office or position except the Sheriff of Baltimore City, in excess
of the salaries in effect during the year 1955, shall not become
effective until January 1, 1956.

(House Bill 370)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 1563 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's County (1953
Edition), being Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland, title "Prince George's County", sub-title "Washington
Suburban Sanitary District", said section being also Section 130-20
of the Montgomery County Code (1950 Edition), being Article 16
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Montgomery
County", sub-title "Washington Suburban Sanitary District" (and
being Section 992 of Chapter 540 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland of 1939), relating to the authority of the
Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission to condemn land.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 1563 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince
George's County (1953 Edition), being Article 17 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's County", sub-
title "Washington Suburban Sanitary District", said section being
also Section 130-20 of the Montgomery County Code (1950 Edition),
being Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title
"Montgomery County", sub-title "Washington Suburban Sanitary
District", (and being Section 992 of Chapter 540 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland of 1939), be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

1563 (130-20). The members of said Commission shall be a body
corporate by the name of the "Washington Suburban Sanitary Com-
mission", with the right to use a common seal, to sue and be sued,
and to do any and all other corporate acts for the purpose of carry-
ing out the provisions of this sub-title. In the event of a judgment
at law or in equity being recovered against said Commission or for
the purpose of amicably adjusting threatened or pending litigation,
the Commission shall at the annual tax levying period of the [respec-
tive] County Council of Montgomery County and the County Com-
missioners of Prince George's County, next succeeding the rendition
