Senate Joint Resolution presenting the Honorable Theodore R.
McKeldin, Governor of Maryland, the desk and chair in the office
of the Governor in the Government House.
WHEREAS, As a slight token of appreciation for outstanding
services rendered to the people of the State by the Honorable
Theodore R. McKeldin, during his term as Governor and in recogni-
tion of the sentiment which the desk and chair where he worked so
assiduously on plans for the welfare of the people must have for
him; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the desk
and chair in the office of the Government House be and they are
hereby presented to the Honorable Theodore R. McKeldin, Governor
of Maryland, on behalf of the people of the State, with the request
that he accept them as a slight token of the appreciation, respect
and high esteem in which he is held by the people of Maryland for
the outstanding services he has rendered in working and planning
for the present and future welfare and improvement of the State.

(House Joint Resolution 15)
House Joint Resolution requesting the appointment of a Joint
Legislative Committee to study the problems of the aging group
in our population in reference to employment, housing, health,
recreation and general social and economic needs; to determine
the feasibility of establishing a State Commission on Aging and
to suggest the duties and responsibilities of such a Commission
if the same be recommended.
WHEREAS, The number of elderly persons and their proportion to
the population as a whole is constantly increasing in this State as
well as throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, The Governors' Conference, at its 46th Annual Meet-
ing in July 1954, requested the Council of State Governments to
study the problem presented by the aging population so as to provide
"a basis for intelligent planning of adequate care, treatment and re-
habilitation facilities to cope with the needs of the foreseeable
future;" and
