called Ellen, any law to the contrary in any wise
notwithstanding.
2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That nothing here-
in contained, shall be construed to enable the said
George P. Stevenson to sell or dispose of the said
negro slave imported by virtue of this act, until the
said slave shall have resided within this State three
whole years next preceding such sale, except in ca-
ses of disposition by last will and testament, and
dispositions by law for bona fide debts, or consequent
upon intestacy.

CHAPTER 91.

An act for the benefit of Mary Stile, Esther Stile and
Edith Stile, of Caroline county.

Passed Dec.
19, 1812.

WHEREAS, It is represented to this General
Assembly by the petition of Thomas Stile, of Caro-
line county, that Mary Stile, Esther Stile and Edith
Stile, will be entitled at his demise, in the right of
their brother, deceased, to a small quantity of land
in Queen Ann's county, which from its local situa-
tion is so unproductive as that the profits of said land
is insufficient to pay the ordinary taxes arising there-
on, and praying to be legally authorised to sell the
same for the benefit of said children, the prayer being
reasonable: Therefore,

Preamble.

SEC. 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That Thomas Stile be, and he
is hereby authorised to sell and dispose of all such
tracts or parcels of land lying and being in Queen
Ann's county, called Wharton's Adventure, as
would at his death fall to the said Mary Stile, Esther
Stile and Edith Stile, in the right of their brother, and
to. apply the proceeds thereof in such manner, for the
benefit of the said Mary Stile, Esther Stile and Edith
Stile, as the Orphans' court of Queen Ann's county
shall direct.

Certain lands
maybe dispos-
ed of.

2. AND BE IT ENACTED, That any convey-
ance or deed made by Thomas Stile pursuant to the
directions of the Orphan's court of Queen Ann's
county, shall be, and is hereby declared to be valid
and effectual, to pass and convey all the right, title
and Interest of the said Mary Stile, Esther Stile and
Edith Stile, in and to the land aforesaid, to the pur-
chaser or purchasers of the same.
