Liability for
trespassing.
|
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That any person or
persons obstructing or removing any logs, lumber or
wood floating down said river belonging to the said
John Oliphant or others associated with him, shall be
liable to trespass in the same penalties, and in the same
manner as made and provided in the second section of.
this act.

AN ACT authorising the Mayor and City Council of
Baltimore to build a new City Hall.
|
|
|
Power to is-
sue stock.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That for the purpose of purchasing a
site for and the erection of a city hall, and such other
improvements connected therewith, as may be deemed
necessary, the mayor and city council of Baltimore be,
and they are hereby empowered to issue stock in certifi-
cates of an amount not less than one hundred dollars,
each redeemable at such time as may be deemed most
expedient, and bearing an annual interest of five per
cent., and transferable only in person or by letter of
attorney at the office of the city register of Baltimore
or borrow money upon the credit of the corporation ;

Proviso.
|
Provided, the amount of stock so created and issued
or money borrowed shall not exceed the sum of four
hundred thousand dollars.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the mayor and
city council of Baltimore may purchase a lot or square
of ground for the purpose recited in the first section of
this act; and if the mayor and city council of Balti-
more or their agent or agents cannot agree with the
owner or owners of any lot or part of any lot for the
purchase and use and occupation of the same, or of
the owner or owners or any of them be a feme cov-
ert, under age, non compos mentis, or a non-resident
