shall first give their assent to the use of the said county
roads.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That the said president
and directors shall have the power and privilege of pur-
chasing and holding six acres of land, for the purpose
of erecting toll houses thereon and having gardens there-
to attached.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That when the said
road shall have been completed according to the provi-
sions of this act, they shall have power to erect toll-
gates, not exceeding three, on said road, and to charge
and receive the same rates of tolls, as are allowed to be
charged and received by the Bel-Air Turnpike compa-
ny, incorporated at December session, eighteen hundred
and forty-nine, chapter four hundred and ninety-two,
and the said Bel-Air and Lagrange Turnpike company
is hereby clothed and invested with all and singular the
fights, privileges and immunities and advantages, not
inconsistent with the provisions of this act, that are held,
used and possessed by the Bel-Air Turnpike company,
and shall be governed by the same regulations and sub-
ject to the same fines and penalties as the said Bel-Air
Turnpike company now is, when the same are not in-
consistent with the provisions of this act.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That all persons what-
soever, travelling on said road, shall be chargeable with
tolls as provided in the tenth section of this act; Pro-
vided, that no funeral procession or person passing to or
from church, or from one part of her or his farm to an-
other part thereof, shall be chargeable with tolls; and
provided, also, that no toll-gate shall be erected within
one mile of the town of Bel-Air.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That nothing herein
contained shall be construed to authorise said company
to exercise banking privileges; and the Legislature re-
serves the right to amend, alter or repeal this act at
pleasure.

take effect from and after the day of its passage.
