Reservation.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the Legislature
reserves to itself the right to alter or amend this act of
incorporation, whenever the public interest may require
it.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That this act shall be in
force from the passage thereof.

AN ACT to incorporate the Manchester Mining and
Manufacturing company.
|
|
|
Incorporated.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That James M. Schley, Charles B.
Thurston and John B. H. Campbell, of Allegany
county, and such other persons as may be associated
with them hereafter, in manner herein provided, shall
be, and they are hereby incorporated and made a body
politic and corporate, by the name of the Manchester
Mining and Manufacturing company, and by that name
shall have succession, and be able and capable to sue
and be sued, to plead and be impleaded in court of law
and equity, and may have and use a common seal, and
the same alter and renew at pleasure, and the said com-
pany shall have all the powers, privileges and rights,
necessary for carrying on the manufacture of iron and
the mining of coal, and for transporting to market the
produce of their mines, lands and manufactories, and
shall also have power to lease or purchase mines, lands
and furnaces with their appurtenances, and to hold all

such properly, real, personal and mixed, as they may
require for the purpose aforesaid; Provided, that the
said company shall at no time own more than five thou-
sand acres of land, and said company shall have power
for the purposes aforesaid, to make such by-laws, rules
and regulations, as may be necessary; Provided, they
be not repugnant to any law of this State or of the
United States.
