CHAPTER 231.
|
|
|
|
AN ACT to license certain traders, known as hucksters,
in Charles county.
|

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That from and after the passage of
this act, it shall not be lawful for any person to pur-
chase for sale, hogs or poultry, of any description what-
ever, within the limits of Charles county, except resi-
dents of said county, without first obtaining a license
from the clerk of the circuit court for said county, in
which such person or persons intend to pursue such
business.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That each person, for
each license referred to in the first section of this act,
shall pay the sum of fifty dollars to the clerk issuing
such license, and the said clerk shall account for and
pay over to the treasurer of the State, the monies re-
ceived by him under the provisions of this act, at the
time or times and in the same manner, as he is required
by law to pay over other monies received by him for
the use of the State.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That any person or
persons, who shall violate the provisions of this act,
shall upon conviction in the circuit court for Charles
county, be fined for every offence, the sum of one hun-
dred dollars, one-half for the use of the State, and the
other half for the use of the person or persons who shall
prosecute the same with effect.
