112.

LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Proviso.

shall refuse, on demand therefor, to pay specie for any
of its notes or bills; Provided, that this act shall not
take effect unless it receive the sanction and be accept-
ed by a majority of the members of said institution
then present at a general meeting, to be called by the
president and directors thereof, on or before the first
Monday in July next; which sanction and acceptance
as aforesaid shall be transmitted to the Treasurer of the
State, certified by the seal of the said institution and at-
tested by the treasurer thereof.

Liability of
stockholders.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That the stockholders
and directors of said Savings Bank shall be liable to
the amount of their respective share or shares of stock
in said Bank, for all its debts and liabilities, upon note,
bill, or otherwise; and no director or other officer of
said Bank shall borrow any money from said Bank;
and if any director or other officer shall be convicted,
upon indictment, of directly or indirectly violating this
section, he shall be punished by fine or imprisonment,
at the discretion of the court.

Reservation.

SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That this act and every
part of it may be amended or repealed at any time by
the General Assembly.

CHAPTER 110.

Passed
Mar. 8, 1854.

AN ACT amendatory of the passed at December session,
eighteen hundred and forty-five, chapter two hundred
and forty-eight, entitled, an act to incorporate the
Farmers' Steam Accommodation Line of Maryland.

Number of
directors.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That from and after the passage of this,
act, the management of the business and concerns of the
Farmers' Steam Accommodation Line company, shall
be vested in five, instead of nine directors, as required
by the fourth section of the original act, to which this
is amendatory; any three of said directors to constitute
a quorum for the transaction of the business of said
company.

Repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the eleventh sec-
tion of said original act. which provides that the said
