to be paid in such portions, and at such periods of the
year as the trustees may direct; which fees are to be ap-
plied to the support of the principal and oilier instruc-
tors in said institution.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the trustees of said
Seminary shall have power from time to time, to fix
and prescribe the prices for instruction to be paid by
holders of scholarship, having pupils educated therein
in studies not declared extra branches, as provided for
in the foregoing section, and to reduce the same or
again make such instruction free of charge whenever
in their judgment the condition of the institution shall
justify it.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall go
into effect from the day of its passage.

CHAPTER 109.

AN ACT to alter and amend the charter of the Hagers-
town Savings Institution.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That so much of the first section of the
act passed at December session, eighteen hundred and
forty-six, chapter two hundred and sixty-six, as requires
the Hagerstown Savings Institution to be known and
called by the name and style of the Hagerstown Savings
Institution, be and the same is hereby repealed; and that
the said corporation shall hereafter be known and call-

exercise, hold, enjoy, use and possess, all the rights,
privileges and immunities that are prescribed and grant-
ed by the said act incorporating the Hagerstown Savings
