effect from and after the passage thereof, and shall con-
tinue and he in force until the first day of July, in the

AN ACT to Incorporate the Santa Clara Mining
Association of Baltimore.

WHEREAS, certain persons citizens of Baltimore and
others, have united by articles of voluntary association,
for the purpose of procuring by mining or otherwise,
Cinnabar or Quicksilver and other ores, and to smelt
and prepare the same for manufacture, and to transfer
and sell the same, and to have and to hold, and improve
for the purposes of said association, and to acquire and
sell and dispose of, any real estate or personal property,
from time to time, as may be deemed expedient, and
have prayed that an act may be passed for such pur-
pose; Therefore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

of Maryland, Thai Isaac Tyson, Jr., David Keener,
John Hanson Thomas, Alexander Fisher and John M.
Gordon, and such persons as with them or in their place,
shall become stockholders in said company, their suc-
cessors or assigns, be, and they are hereby created a cor-
porate and body politic, by the name and style of the
Santa Clara Mining Association of Baltimore, and by
that name may sue and he sued, answer and defend in
any court of law or equity, and may ordain and estab-
lish such bye-laws, rules and regulations as shall ap-
pear necessary, for conducting the concerns of said cor-
poration, not contrary to the laws of this State, nor of
the United States, and the same to change, alter and
amend as may appear proper, and may make, have and
use, and at pleasure change or renew a common seal,
and generally may do any act or thing necessary to carry
into effect the provisions of this act, and to promote the
design of the corporation, it being however understood
that said corporation shall have no other powers, and
shall be subject to no other regulations or restrictions,
