gates shall choose one director of said bank on the
part of the state; and when the state becomes a stock-
holder to the amount of thirty thousand dollars, the
state shall be entitled to two directors, one to be cho-
sen by the senate, the other by the house of delegates.

continue in force until the expiration of the year

A further Supplement to the act entitled, An
act to lay out a Road therein mentioned.

WHEREAS, It has been represented to this Ge-
neral Assembly by the petition of Upton Reid and
Rees Davis, of Baltimore county, that certain com-
missioners were appointed by an act of Assembly
passed at November session eighteen hundred and
nine, to assess and value the damages sustained by
John Weston, of Harford county, by reason of a cer-
tain road passing through his land; and that said com-
missioners did value and assess the said damages to a
sum far exceeding any possible, damages which said
Weston could have sustained by reason of said road
passing through his land; and have prayed that a law
may pass authorising the appointment of other com-
missioners to ascertain the damages actually sustained
by said John Weston by reason of said road passing
through his land; and the prayer of the petition ap-
pearing reasonable: — Therefore.,

Preamble.

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland,, That Nathan Baker, John Jeffries and
Charles Gorsuch be, and they are hereby appointed
commissioners to value the damages sustained by the
said John. Weston, by reason of the aforesaid road
passing through his land; and they or a majority of
them are hereby authorised to meet upon the premises
on or before the first day of May next, and make any
alteration in the said road they may think necessary;
and after being duly qualified before some justice of
the peace, truly and impartially to estimate the dama-
ges sustained by said John Weston by reason of the
said road running through his farm, they shall proceed
to value the same, taking into their consideration the
advantages and disadvantages, if any; and such valu-
ation shall be filial and conclusive.
