CHAPTER 156.

1812

A supplement to an act entitled, An act to ascer-
tain the allowance of Members of the General
Assembly, Electors of Senate, and Electors of

President and Vice-President of the United
States.

Members cf the
legislature, &c.
shall receive an
additional al-
lowance of 50
cents.

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That each member of the General Assem-
bly, electors of senate, and electors of president and
vice-president of the United States, shall receive in
addition to their present allowance, the sum of fifty
cents.

CHAPTER 157.

Passed Jan. 4,
1812.

An act to prevent the erection of Booths within
two miles of any Methodist Camp or Quarterly
Meeting in the several counties therein men-
tioned.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, The Methodist society have at dif-
ferent times sustained much disturbance and vexation
from disorderly persons who have set up booths to
sell liquors and other thing near their public meetings
during the time of divine service: — Therefore,

penalty for
transgressing
this law.

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That whosoever, from and after the pas-
sage of Impact, shall erect a booth for the purpose of
selling, or shall sell or dispose of ncy spirituous liquor
within two miles of any Methodist camp or quarterly
meeting in Queen Ann's, Talbot, Montgomery and
Somerset counties, during the camp or quarterly
meeting of the said Methodist society, shall forfeit and
pay the sum ef twenty dollars current money of this
state, one half thereof to be applied to the use of the
county, the other half to him or them who shall sue
for the same, to be recovered in like manner as other
fines and forfeitures.

How this act is
to be construed.

AND BE IT ENACTED, That nothing in this
act shall be construed to hinder any ordinary keeper
or licensed retailer from selling liquors and other
things in their respective dwelling houses or stores.
