ter, to demand and receive the following tolls for pass-
ing said bridge, to wit: for every coach, chariot, or
other four-wheeled carriage, stage or waggon, twenty,
five cents; for every two-wheeled carriage, or cart ox
every description, twelve and an half cents; for a horse
and rider, six and one fourth cents; for every horse
or mule, three cents; for every head of horned cat-
tle, two cents; for every score of sheep or hogs, ten
cents; for every foot-passenger, two cents; which
rates of tolls shall, at all times, be made public and
kept in some conspicuous place for the inspection of
passengers; Provided, That no toll shall be demand-
ed or received from any person residing in Caroline
county; and in lieu thereof, the levy court of said coun-
ty is hereby authorised and directed, at their first ses-
sion alter the said bridge is completed, and annually
thereafter, to assess and levy on the assessable proper-
ty of said county, the sum of two hundred and eighty
dollars, together with the usual commission for collect-
ing the same; which sum shall be paid to the presi-
dent and directors for the time being, or their order, by
the collector of said county, in such manner and at
such time as other public monies are payable.

12. AND BE IT ENACTED, That if the said presi-
dent and directors, or their successors, or any collec-
tor of tolls, or person employed by them, shall demand
or receive any greater rates or tolls for passing over
the said bridge, than is hereinbefore allowed, or shall
neglect to keep the said bridge in good repair for the
space of five days at any one time, they, so offending,
shall, for every such offence, forfeit and pay the sura
of twenty dollars, one half for the use of the comity,
and the other half for the person who shall sue for the
same, and may be presented by the grand jury, and
fined a sura not exceeding twenty dollars, in the dis-
cretion of the court.

13. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said pre-
sident and directors shall keep a just and true account
of all monies received by their several and respective,
collectors of toils for crossing said bridge, and of the
monies received from the county; and shall make and
declare a dividend of the profits and income thereof
among all the stock-holders, first deducting therefrom
all contingent costs and charges, and such proportions
of the said income as they may deem necessary for
keeping said bridge in repair; and shall, on every
first Monday in January end July in every year, publish
the dividend so made, and of the time and place where
