CHAPTER 92.

An act to provide for recording certain wills and other
papers in the office of the Register of Wills, for
Somerset county.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, It is represented to this General Assem-
bly, that there are sundry wills and other original pa-
pers of importance in the office of the Register of
Wills for Somerset county, which by reason of causes
unknown had not been recorded prior to the appoint-
ment and qualification of the present Register of Wills
for said county; and whereas, doubts are entertained
as to the authority of the present Register of Wills to
record the same — Therefore,

Wills, &c., to
be recorded.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the present Register of Wills for
Somerset county, be and he is hereby authorised and
required to record any wills or other original papers
required by existing laws to be recorded, which may
have been remaining in his office, unrecorded at the
time of his appointment and qualification as register,
and such record, when so made by the said register,
shall be deemed and taken to be as valid and good for
all purposes as if the same had been made by the
Register of Wills, in office at the time when such
will or other papers should have been recorded, and
copies duly authenticated from the record of any such
wills or other paper when so made, shall be competent
evidence in any case, when a copy of the same would
have been, had the same been recorded by the proper
officer in due time.

Compensation.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Register
of Wills shall charge the fees for recording any such
wills or other papers which may, by virtue of this act,
be recorded by him, to the commissioners of Somer-
set county, and the said commissioners are hereby
authorised and required to levy the amount of such
fees upon the taxable property in Somerset county, for
the use of the said register.

In force.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
