CHAP. 551.

Other compa-
nies may hold

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That it shall be lawful
for any corporation or body politic in the United States,
to become stockholders in said company.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That if the said com-
pany do not proceed to carry on said work within
two years after the passage of this act, or shall not,
within fifteen years thereafter, complete the said road,
then the rights and privileges granted by this act shall
be null and void, and if said road shall pass over any
county road now laid down in Harford county, or
any bridge built by said county, the county commis-
sioners are empowered to release said company from
the expense of building said bridge or bridges, or
opening said road, if they deem it the interest of the
people of said county so to do, and the said county
commissioners may subscribe for as much stock to

sum so subscribed, shall not exceed the annual sum
laid out for repairs on said road and bridges.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That no toll gate shall

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That the Legislature
reserves to itself the right to alter, amend or annul
this act of incorporation at pleasure.

An act to incorporate the Baltimore German Home-

stead Association.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, Sebastian Hufnagle, Theordore Schmitz,
John M. Muchlhofer, Lawrence Messer, Andrew Ren-
ter, Samuel Gager and others, of the city of Baltimore,
have formed themselves into an association under the
name and style of the Baltimore German Homestead
Association; and whereas, the object of the said as-
sociation is to encourage economy and frugality,
whereby the members thereof may in an easy and
secure manner accumulate a sum sufficient to build or
purchase a domicil for their families — Therefore,

Incorporated,
&c.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the aforesaid members of said as-
sociation, as well as those who hereafter, according tot
the constitution and bye-laws of said association shall
become members thereof, be and they are hereby
