trusted to their care, the company shall hold them
selves liable, the danger of the sea and fire alone ex-
cepted, the said company to receive or allow their
agents such compensation, or such commission on
purchases or sales as is usual to allow, or to be re-
ceived in such cases.

CHAP. 77.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That said company shall
have full power to transport passengers and freight,
by the way of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal,
or other ways, to and from the cities of Baltimore and

Philadelphia, respectively; provided, said freight and
said passengers do not interfere with, or in any man-
ner prevent said company's boats from stopping at the
various stopping places called for in section eight of
this act.

Proviso.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That nothing in this
act shall be so construed as to authorise the said com-
pany to issue any note, token, scrip or device, or other
evidence of debt to be used as a currency.

Banking forbid.

SEC. 12. And be it ended, That this act of incor-
poration shall go into effect immediately after its pas-
sage, and shall continue in force until the year eigh-
teen hundred and seventy, and until the end of the
next session of the General Assembly thereafter.

In force.

SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That all the powers, rights
and privileges granted to said company by the differ-
ent sections of this act may be modified or repealed
by the Legislature of this State, at pleasure.

An act to allow Thomas Sutton, late Sheriff of Queen
Anne's County, further time to complete his collec-
tions.

Passed
Feb. 12, 1850.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Thomas Sutton, late sheriff of Queen Anne's
county, and his deputies, or any agent by him to be
appointed, be and they are hereby authorised and em-
powered, to collect and receive all and every balance or
amount of officer's fees, fines, and forfeitures, and all
other sums that may be due and owing to the said
Sutton, as sheriff as aforesaid, in the same manner, and
to the same extent, as if the term of office of the said
Sutton, as sheriff as aforesaid, had not expired; pro-
