CHAP. 458.

Failure to re-
deem issues —
penalty.

it may issue under the provisions of this act, for the
privileges hereby conferred.
SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That if the said Savings
Institution shall at any time fail to redeem the notes
that may be issued under the provisions of this act, in
gold or silver, that then the said charter is hereby de-
clared to be forfeited and void.

Rights reserved.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the General Assem-
bly reserves the right to alter or amend this act at plea-
sure.

CHAPTER 457.

An act for the benefit of John F. Jordan, of Harford
County.

Levy authoris-
ed.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the commissioners of Harford county, be and they
are hereby authorised, if in their discretion it shall be
deemed proper, to levy upon the assessable property of
said county, a sum of money to compensate John F.
Jordan, for the keeping and taking care of a lunatic
pauper, taken from the alms-house and bound to said

Proviso.

Jordan; provided, that such sum shall not exceed the
sum of thirty dollars per year, for the time the said lu-
natic has been in charge of the said John F. Jordan.

A bill entitled, an act to Incorporate the Proprietors of
Mount Clare Cemetery.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, public sentiment has always been op-
posed to the interment of the dead among the abodes of
the living, for very obvious reasons, and that it is at all
times desirable to have public burial grounds, subject to
such laws, rules and regulations as will ensure to the
living the continual protection of the remains of their
dead, and a decent preservation of the grounds, by se-
curing them in perpetuity to their object of dedication ;
and whereas, several citizens of this State are desirous,
