CHAPTER 389.

An act to incorporate the Trustees of the Orphans
Home, in Baltimore county.

Incorporated,

&c.

SECTION I. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the Reverend James Dolan,
Basil R. Spalding, John Ahern, John Baker, Michael
Courteney Jenkins, Thomas Parkin Scott, William
Kennedy, Richard McDonnell and Allied Jenkins be
and they are hereby created a body corporate, by the
name and style of the Trustees of the Orphans Home,
in Baltimore county, and by that name they and
their successors shall have succession, and shall be
and are hereby made capable in law to take, receive
and hold any real estate, not exceeding three hun-
dred acres of land in the said county, and any personal
estate not exceeding in value the sum of thirty thou-
sand dollars, which estate real and personal, the said
trustees and their successors, by the name aforesaid,
may purchase and take by deed, gift, devise or other-
wise, in fee simple, or for any less estate, and the;
same or any part thereof, may lease, mortgage or sell
and convey, by deed or otherwise, for the uses of the
said corporation, and the said trustees by the name
aforesaid, may have and adopt a corporate seal, and
the same at any time alter or renew, and shall be ca-
pable to sue and be sued, in any court of law or equi-
ty, and may by bye-laws provide for the admission
of new trustees, not exceeding at any one time, nine
in number, so as to perpetuate the said corporation.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said trustees
and their successors, by the name aforesaid, shall be
and they are hereby made capable in law, to take
and receive male apprentices at their said establish
merit, to serve until the age of twenty-one years, and
to be bound as apprentices are now bound by the
Laws of Maryland; with full power and authority
to said trustees and their successors, to assign or
bind out any such apprentice after he shall have at-
tained the age of fifteen years, to serve for the re-
mainder of his said term; and the said trustees and
their successors, shall find all such apprentices, whilst
with them, with good and sufficient meat, drink,
clothing and boarding, and shall have all such ap-
prentices taught reading, writing and cyphering, and
the rudiments of some trade or calling, or agricul-
