1849.

SEC. 19. And be it enacted, That nothing in this
act shall be so construed as to authorise the said cor-
portion to issue any note, token, scrip, device, or
other evidence of debt, to be used as currency.

CHAP. 367.

Banking forbid.

SEC. 20. And be it enacted, That this act of incor-
poration shall enure for twenty years from the time of
its passage, or until the end of the session of the Ge-
neral Assembly thereafter.

In force.

SEC. 21. And be it enacted, That the Legislature
reserves to itself the right to alter or annul this act of
incorporation at pleasure.

SEC. 22. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
contained shall be construed to exempt the premium
notes, or other property of said company, from State
and county taxes.

CHAPTER 357.

Not exempted
from taxation.

An act to regulate the Inspection of Lumber and Shin-

gles at Heckart Town, in Cecil County, and to limit
the jurisdiction of the Inspector.

Passed Mar. 5,
1850.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That, the Governor, by and with the
advice and consent of the Senate, be and he is hereby
authorised and required biennially to appoint one mea-
surer, marker and inspector of lumber and shingles for
said village, who is a resident of the State of Maryland,
and who shall be governed by the same laws with regard
to his measurement and inspection, which govern the
inspectors of lumber and shingles in the town of Port
Deposit.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That before the said
measurer, marker and inspector shall proceed to act as
such, he shall take an oath, or affirmation, faithfully to
perform his duty as measurer, murker and inspector of
lumber and shingles for said village, to the best of his
skill and judgment, without favor, partiality or preju-
dice.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the measurer,
marker and inspector aforesaid shall have jurisdiction,
and the privilege is hereby granted him to measure,
mark and inspect lumber and shingles on the waters of
the Susquehanna river, opposite said village, and from
