An act to incorporate the Village of Federalsburg, in
Dorchester and Caroline Counties.
|

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the citizens of the village of Fede-
ralsburg, in Dorchester and Caroline counties, shall be and
they are hereby constituted and made a body corporate,
and to have a common seal, and perpetual succession.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all free white male
citizens, of Federalsburg aforesaid, of the age of twen-
ty-one years and upwards, having resided in said village
six months, and twelve months in this State, and within
the limits of the corporation, next preceding the election,
may on the first Wednesday in May next, at such house
as the judge of the election, hereafter appointed under
the provisions of this act, shall determine, said judge
giving one week's notice previously, in writing, in two
public places in said village, of the purpose of said elec-
tion, and the place and time for holding the same, and
on the first Wednesday of July, in each and every year
thereafter, at such house as shall hereafter be designated
as the Town Hall, by the municipally, be authorised to
elect five commissioners, for the said village, with the
same qualifications as to age and residence, as is required
of the legal voters aforesaid.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That a justice of the
peace, for the time being resident of said village, shall
appoint, in writing, under his hand and seal, at least
one week before the election, a competent person of the
village to act as judge of election, said judge to appoint
a clerk if desirable, and said judge shall hold the first
election on the day in May named in the second section
of this act, and shall keep the polls open from nine
o'clock in the morning until two in the evening, in the
same manner as the judges of election are now, by law,
directed to conduct an election for delegates to the Gen-
eral Assembly of Maryland, as far as may be consistent
with this act, and the said judge shall make duplicate
returns, under his hand and seal, of the persons elected,
