LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 247.

pleas, causes, matters and demands, of whatever kind,
nature or form they be, and all and every other matter
and thing therein to do, in as full and effectual a man-
ner as any other person or persons, bodies politic or cor-
corporate, of like nature, within this State, may or
can do.

To appoint
professors, etc.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the said trustees
and their successors, from time to time, and at all times
hereafter, shall have full power and authority to constitute
and appoint, or dismiss, in such manner as they shall
think best, and most convenient, a president, who shall be
ex-officio, a trustee, and professors, with proper assistants,
for instructing the students and scholars of said college,
and the president and professors so constituted and ap-
pointed from time to time, shall be capable of exercis-
ing such powers and authorities as the trustees of said
college, and their successors, shall by their ordinances
think necessary to delegate to them for the instruction,
discipline and government thereof, and of all students,
scholars, officers and servants belonging to the same.

Meetings—
when held, etc.

SEC 9. And be it enacted, That the said trustees,
and their successors, shall meet at such times and places
as their bye-laws shall direct, for any and all purposes
they may deem essential to the wholesome execution of
their ordinances, in all which meetings such number of

the said trustees duly met shall be a quorum; provided,
it be not less than six, three of whom to be Trustees on
the part of the Baltimore Annual Conference of the
Methodist Episcopal church, and three of whom on the
part of the stockholders.

To make bye-
laws, etc.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That the said trustees,
when duly assembled at any stated or special meetings,
upon due notice having been given, shall have full
power and authority to make ordinances for the govern-
ment of said college, and the instruction of youth, and
delegate to the president and professors such powers and
authorities as they may think best for the execution of
the ordinances and rules of the college, and make and
ordain bye-laws, rules and regulations, from time to
time, and the same to alter and annul as they may
think proper, and shall have power, and authority to es-
tablish any conduct primary schools, in such places as
they may deem advisable, and do all matters and things
they in their judgment shall think will promote the in-
terest of the institution, not repugnant to this charter, to
the form of government, or and laws of this State, or of
the United States.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That the trustees, and
