quired to assign and transfer to the said superintendent
any and all State bonds, or certificates of stocks, which
they may hold in part and on account of said fund, in
such manner as the same are required, to be transfered
by law, and said assignments, when so made, shall
vest in the said superintendent, and his successors in
office, full power and authority to receive the money
secured thereby, and, with the authority of the board
of education, certified as before mentioned, to transfer
and assign the said State bonds or certificates of stock,
or to deliver up the same to he cancelled.

CHAP. 221.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That all monies received
by the said superintendent, from the said orphans court,
from the obligors and mortgagors in the said bonds and
mortgages, and from the State of Maryland or her
agents upon the said State bonds, as well as all other
monies that may come into his hands, or into the hands
of his successors in office, under the provisions of this
act, shall be held by him and his successors in office,
subject to the orders of the board of education, for the
purposes of this act, and it shall be the duty of the said
board of education to appropriate so much of the exist-
ing poor school fund of the said county as may be ne-
cessary, to the erection of proper district school houses
throughout the said county, allowing to each school dis-
trict the sum of two hundred dollars, to be expended
for that purpose by the trustees of the several school dis-

tricts; provided, that the board of education shall first
determine upon a model or plan for the construction
of said school houses, with the necessary fixtures,
desks, and so forth, and shall furnish the same with
specifications for the building thereof to the local boards
of trustees; and provided also, that each house, and the
fixtures thereof, shall be at least equal to the said model
and specifications when completed, before any part of
the said sum of two hundred dollars shall be, paid or or-
dered to be paid by the said board of education; and
provided further, that if any of the said school districts,
when laid off, shall have within their limits a good and
sufficient school house which either is, or may be pro-
perly located, and which upon inspection by the board
of education or superintendent shall be determined to be
suitable for the purpose of a district school, such house,
when so inspected and approved, shall, when properly
located, be adopted as the district school house for such
district, and the board of education shall order and direct
the superintendent to pay to the board of trustees for such
district, the said sum of two hundred dollars, to be ap-
propriated by them to the purchase of the necessary fix-
