CHAP. 292.

Banking for-
bid.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That this act nor no part
thereof shall be so construed as to give to the said com-
pany any banking privileges, or any right to issue any
bank note or notes, or certificates of deposit payable to
bearer, or small notes for circulation of any kind what-
ever.

In force.

SEC. 9. Be it enacted, That this act shall com-
mence and be in force from and alter the passage there-
of, and shall be subject to all the provisions of the act
of .December session eighteen hundred and thirty-eight,
chapter two hundred and sixty-seven, entitled, an act
prescribing general regulations for the incorporation
of manufacturing and mining companies.

Right of other
companies to
cross road.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That any company here-
after formed shall have the privilege of passing over the
lands of said Alexandria Mining Company, so as to
connect any lateral rail road with the rail road or roads
of said Alexandria Mining Company, by paying said
company such sum or sums as may be agreed upon by
three disinterested persons appointed by the commis-
sioners of the tax of Allegany county to value said da-
mage or damages.

Not exempt
from taxation

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
contained shall be construed to exempt the lands and
other property of said company from taxation.

Reservation.

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That the right is hereby
expressly reserved to the General Assembly of Mary-
land at its pleasure to alter or repeal this act of incorpo-

ration.

CHAPTER 292.

Passed.
March 1, 1848.

An act to extend the Street leading from the Chester
Bridge in Chestertown, until it intersects the road lead-
ing to Washington College.

Commission-
ers to open and
grade street.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That George S. Holliday, James Mansfield and John
L. Slam be and they are hereby appointed commis-
sioners with full power and authority to Open, extend
and grade the street leading from the bridge over Chester
river until it intersects the road leading to Washington
College, and that they assess the damages which shall
be sustained by the owners respectively of the premises
through which said street shall pass, after taking into
