PHILIP F. THOMAS, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

1847.

Thomas Hodges and Mrs. McGruder until it inter-
sects the divisional line between primary school districts
numbers nine and ten, thence with said line to the Pa-
tuxent river, and with said river to the place of begin-
ning.

CHAP. 279.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That three trustees for
said district hereby laid off and numbered fifty-one shall
be appointed at a general meeting of the inhabitants
thereof authorised to vote under the constitution of the
State for members of the legislature, due notice of which
signed by one of the commissioners of primary schools for
Anne Arundel county, shall be given at least ten days
prior thereto, and set up at two of the most public places
within the limits of said district.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That it shall and may be
lawful for said trustees to regulate and fix the tuition
money for the admission of pupils at said school, having
due regard to the ability of the parents or guardians of
the children who may apply for admission to said school
to pay the same, and that they be authorised and re-
quired, when the parent or guardian is unable to pay
anything for the education of his child or children, to
admit such child or children into said school free from
charge, and that they be also required to admit in like
manner to said school all children who have no means
of educating themselves, and who are without parents
or guardians.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That said trustees be and
they are hereby authorised to receive into the school
established in said district, any child or children who
may not live in said district, upon such terms as they may
prescribe; provided, that in the opinion of said trustees
the interest of the pupils within the district will not be
prejudiced.

Proviso.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That with the exception
of the power to lay a district tax upon the assessable
property of said school district, which power is hereby
expressly inhibited, the inhabitants of said district shall
have and enjoy all such benefits and privileges as are
now afforded by law to the inhabitants of the other
school districts of Anne Arundel county.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted That all acts of Assembly
or parts of acts which are inconsistent with the provi-
sions of this act, be and the same are hereby re-
pealed.

Inconsistent
acts repealed.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That this act shall go
into operation from and after its passage.
