CHAP. 177.

time of its passage, except so far as it may be modi-
fied by the provisions as herein contained, and that all
acts and things heretofore done under and in conformi-
ty with its provisions, shall be as binding and effective
as though no failure to elect trustees under it had ever
taken place.

An act entitled, an act to limit the number of Consta-
bles and Justices of the Peace, in Allegany County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act,
the commissioners of Allegany county shall not ap-
point more than twenty-two constables for said county,
to be commissioned and apportioned us follows: in and
for election district number one, two constables; election
district number two, two constables; election district
number three, two constables; election district number
four, two constables; election district number five,
three constables; election district number six, four con-
stables; election district number seven, two constables;
election district number eight, two constables; election
district number nine, two constables, and election dis-
trict number ten; two constables.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That from and after the
passage of this act, it shall not be lawful for the governor
to appoint and commission a greater number of justices of
the peace for Allegany county than is hereinafter
provided for: for election district number five, he shall
appoint five justices of the peace; for election district
number six, he shall appoint five justices of the peace;
and for each of the remaining election districts in said
county, he shall appoint three justices of the peace.
