CHAP. 75.

property, real and personal; also devises and bequests of
any person or persons, bodies corporate or politic, capa-
ble of making the same, and the same at their pleasure
to transfer or dispose of in such manner as they may think

body politic, shall not at any one time, hold or possess

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That it shall and may be
lawful for the said corporation to have a common seal for
their use, and the same at their will and pleasure to
change, alter or make anew, from time to time, as they
may think best, and shall in general have and exercise

incident to corporations, and which may be necessary to
the corporation herein constituted, and to enable the mem-
bers of said order to exercise all things concerning the
designs of this corporation for the benevolent relief of the
sick and distressed, and for the promotion of their pur-
poses generally.

Alter by-laws.

Proviso.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this corporation shall
have power to alter and amend their by-laws at pleasure ;
provided, such alteration or amendment shall not conflict
or be inconsistent with the constitution and laws of the
United States, or of the State of Maryland, or of the Grand
Division of the State of Maryland of the Order of the
Sons of Temperance.

Issues forbid.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act
contained, shall be so construed as to authorise the said
corporation to issue any note, token, scrip, device, or
other evidence of debt to be used as a currency.

Enure for 40
years.

ed.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That this act of incorpora-
tion shall enure for forty years from the date of its pas-
sage, and that the Legislature reserves to itself the right
to alter and annul the same at pleasure.

CHAPTER 75.

concurrent with the Magistrate's Courts of said County ,
