making an artificial bed of stone or gravel, not less than
sixteen feet in breadth.
SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That said company shall
cause said load to be completed within three years from
the passage of this act, otherwise the right of said stock-
holders shall revert to the State of Maryland; and that
said company are hereby clothed and invested as re-
spects the said road, with all and singular the rights, pri-
vileges, immunities and advantages not inconsistent with
the provisions of this act, that are held, usrd and pos-
sessed by the several turnpike companies incorporated by
an act of Assembly, passed at December session, eigh-
teen hundred and four, chapter fifty-one, entitled, an act
to incorporate companies to make several turnpike roads
through Baltimore county, and for other purposes, and
shall be governed by the same regulations, and subject to
the same fines, penalties and restrictions as said compa-
nies now are, where the same are not inconsistent with
the provisions of this act.

CHAP. 333.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the commissioner's
board of Washington county be, and they are hereby
authorised to subscribe for such number of shares not ex-
ceeding two hundred, in the capital stock of its compa-
ny hereby incorporated, that they may deem expedient
and proper to be subscribed for, in the name and for the
benefit of Washington county, and to be represented at
all meetings of the stockholders of said company, by the
county commissioners for the time being, or by such per-
son or persons as may be duly authorised by them.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the said company
shall have the right to erect upon said road, two toll
gates; provided, said gales be not erected within one
mile and a half from the town of llagerslown; and they
are hereby authorised to appoint such, and so many toll
gatherers as they shall think proper, who are empowered
to collect and receive of, and from all and every person
and persons, using said road, the tolls and rates herein-
after mentioned, and to stop any person riding, leading or
driving any horses, cattle, sheep, sulky, chaise, phaeton,
coach, coachee, cart,vvagon, sleigh, sled, or other carriage
of pleasure or burthen, from passing through said gate,
until they have respectively paid the same: that is to say,
the following sums of money, and so in proportion for any
greater or lesser number of sheep, hogs or cattle, name-
ly: for every score of sheep five cents for every score of
hogs five cents, for every score of cattle ten cents, for
every horse and his rider or led horse three cents, for
