CHAP. 321.
|
SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act con-
tained shall be construed to authorise said company to
issue any note, token, scrip, certificate or other evidence
of debt to be used as currency.
|

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That this act shall take ef-
fect from the day of its passage, and shall remain in force
for thirty years thereafter, unless sooner repealed by the
General Assembly.

An act to incorporate Mohegan Tribe Number Nine, of
the Improved Order of Red Men, of the State of
Maryland.
|

Incorporated.
|
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Matthew Topham Evans, John Holtz-
man, Elisha K. Williams, William R. Beall, George A.
D. Clarke, Jesse T. Beall, and others, the officers and
members of Mohegan Tribe Number Nine, of the Im-
proved Order of Red Men, of the State of Maryland,
and their successors be, and they are hereby declared to
be a community, corporation and body politic, by the
name, style and title of Mohegan Tribe Number Nine, of
the Improved Order of Red Men, of the State of Mary-
land, and by that name, they and their successors shall
and may at all times hereafter, be capable in law to have,
receive and retain to them and their successors, property,
real and personal, and also devises and bequests of any
person or persons, bodies corporate or politic, capable of
making the same, and the same at their pleasure to trans-
fer or dispose of in such manner as they may think pro-
per; provided always, that the said corporation or body
politic, shall not at any time hold or possess property,
real and personal or mixed, exceeding in value the sum
of five thousand dollars.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said corporation
and their successors, by the name and title aforesaid,
shall be capable in law to sue and be sued, plead and be
impleaded, answer and be answered unto, defend and be
defended in all or any courts of law and equity, and before
all or any judges, officers or persons whatsoever, in all
and singular actions, matters or demands whatsoever.
