LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAP. 315.

Regiment to
be divided.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said new regi-
ments shall be equally divided between the third and
fourth brigades.

Commanding
officer to cor-
rect omission.

Company of-
ficer to employ
person.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That if, from any cause,
an enrolment of the whole, or any part of said division,
shall fail to be ordered, or not made at the time prescrib-
ed by the act to which this is an additional supplement,
the commanding officer of said division may have the
omission corrected, by ordering an enrolment to be made,
and prescribing the time for the same.
SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the company officers
of the division are authorised to employ a suitable per-
son or persons to make the enrolment of their respective
districts.

Report to Ad-
jutant General.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the said board make a
return of their proceedings to the Adjutant General's
office, to be therein recorded.

CHAPTER 315.

Preamble.

An act to incorporate the Cumberland Nail and Wire
Company.

WHEREAS, it is represented to the General Assembly
of the State of Maryland, that the mines, both of coal
and iron in the vicinity of the town of Cumberland, in
the county of Allegany, are eligibly situated to sustain
manufactories of iron, and that the establishment of works
for this purpose will tend to develope the mineral wealth
of that rejoin, to the interest and increased revenue of the
State of Maryland; and whereas, a larger amount of
capital can be commanded for the purpose by the asso-
ciation of individuals under a charter as a body politic —
Therefore,

Incorporated.

SECTION 1. Se it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That John Guest, Archibald Carey and
George A. Thurston, of the town of Cumberland be,
and they are hereby appointed commissioners, under this
act, to receive subscriptions to the capital stock of a
company to be entitled, the Cumberland Nail and Wire
Company, and the objects of said company shall be the
manufacture of iron from the ore, or from iron previously
prepared, into nails or wire by machinery or otherwise.

Open books.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said commission-
ers, or any two of them, shall open books in the town
