SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That nothing contained
herein, shall be construed as granting banking privilege»
to said corporation, or exempting tbeir property from
general taxation.

A further supplement to an act entitled, an act to establish
a Bank and incorporate a Company, under the name of
the Farmers' Bank of Maryland, and for other pur-
poses.

Allowed to
deal in states'
stock.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, it shall and
may be lawful for the President, Directors and Company
of the Farmers' Bank of Maryland, and its Branches,
respectively, to be concerned, and to deal in the stock of
this State, and in the stock of any corporation incorpo-
rated by this State, and to discount any notes that may
be offered vherefor, though they be not on the face there-
of made negotiable at the said bank, or at either of the
branches, or be made payable at the house of some one,
and though they be executed by three or more makers
or drawers, with or without endorsers, and also to charge
discount on paper discounted by them, according to the
mode and rate used by the banks established by law in
the city of Baltimore, the original act to which this is a
supplement, or any of the supplements thereto, to the
contrary thereof not-withstanding.
