1846.

CHAPTER 291.

An act for the relief of Margaret Birnie and others, of
Carroll County.

WHEEEAS, it is represented to this General Assembly,

by the petition of Margaret Birnie, Hester Birnie and
Rose Birnie, citizens of Carroll county, that they were
duly and legally naturalized in, and by Carroll county
court, at the September term thereof, in the year eighteen
hundred and thirty-nine, and obtained certificates there-
of from the clerk of said court, but that no record entry
thereof can now be found on the records of said court —
Therefore,

CHAP. 292.

Passed March
9, 1847.

Preamble.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the judges of Carroll county court are hereby au-
thorised and directed, on motion of said Margaret Birnie,
Hester Birnie and Rose Birnie, citizens of Carroll
county, or by their attorney, to inquire into, and investi-
gate whether the said named persons were at any time
legally naturalized by the said court, and whether there
is any record of the same in said court, and if, on the
evidence thereon adduced, they are satisfied that the said
persons have been heretofore legally naturalized by the
said court, and that there has not been made a record
thereof in the proceedings of said court, or that the same,
if made, has been lost, destroyed or cannot be found, to
then authorise and direct the clerk of said court to make
such entry or amendment of the records of said court,
that it may appear that said persons were legally natu-
ralized at the time it may be proven to the said court,
by the evidence exhibited to them on the said motion to
have heretofore been done.

CHAPTER 292.

Judges to en-
quire.

An act to authorise Clerks of County Courts in this State
to enter Judgments of Magistrates, in Dockets return-
ed satisfied, in certain cases.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,

That from and after the passage of this act, it shall and
may be lawful for the clerks of county courts, and the
clerk of Baltimore city court, and the clerk of Howard
