CHAP. 282.

had been born in lawful wedlock; provided, however,
that the rights of any creditors of the said Mary Shew-
brooks, shall not be in any manner effected by the passage
of this act.


CHAPTER 281.

Passed March
10, 1847.

An actjor the division of the Academy Fund of Somerset
County, and for other purposes therein mentioned.

Taken from
the academy.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act,
the sum of two hundred dollars be, and the same is
hereby severed and taken from the academy fund of So-
merset county, previously given to Washington academy,
in said county, by the act of seventeen hundred and
ninety-eight, chapter one hundred and seven.

Treasurer to
pay upon ap-
plication of the
trustees.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the treasurer of the
State shall hereafter be authorised and required, upon
application of the trustees of Salisbury academy, located
in the town of Salisbury, to pay over to them in each year
the said sum of two hundred dollars, to be by them ap-
propriated to the use and benefit of said academy.

Free scholars.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the trustees of said
Salisbury academy be, and they are hereby directed and
required, upon application, to educate free of tuition, one
pupil from each of the election districts in the old upper
district of Somerset county.

Repealed.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That all acts, or parts
of acts, inconsistent with the provisions of this act be, and
the same are hereby repealed.

An act to incorporate the Equitable Life Insurance Com-
pany of Baltimore.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That William F. Murdock, Lawrence Sangs-
ton, Christian Keener, William McConkey, James Har-
vey, George E. Sangston, Comfort Tiffany, John G.
